A woman narrowly escaped injury when a wooden plank fell from the back of a van and smashed through the front windscreen of a minibus in Surrey.
The 53-year-old, who was driving on the A24 Deepdene Avenue in Dorking, was showered with glass, but unhurt.
The driver of the flatbed van, which had been travelling in the opposite direction, failed to stop.
Police said it pulled over further along the road and two people got out, secured the load, and drove off.
Officers have appealed for witnesses to the incident, which happened at about 1415 GMT on Friday, to come forward.
They are also keen to trace the driver of the flatbed van, which was described as being silver at the back.
There were no passengers on board the silver Peugeot minibus.
