Surrey M3 collision victim is named

A man who died following a motorway collision in Surrey on Sunday has been named.

John Bernard Witty, 60, of Coulsdon, South London, died after his yellow Citroen left the M3 carriageway.

His vehicle crashed into an embankment before catching fire.

Police were called to the scene between junctions 3 and 4 at about 0820 GMT following the collision involving a red Mazda sports car, a grey BMW and Mr Bernard's Citroen.

The M3 southbound carriageway was closed for a number of hours on Sunday while an investigation into the collision was carried out.

Surrey Police are still appealing for witnesses who may have seen the red Mazda RX8, which left the scene of the collision.
