A 22-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a man who was found dead at his flat in Surrey.

The body of John Dowling, 56, was found at his home in Abell Court, Brighton Road, Addlestone, on 7 February. He was last seen two days earlier.

Surrey Police said Shane Walker, an unemployed man from Addlestone, had been charged with killing Mr Dowling.

A post-mortem examination found Mr Dowling, who police say was "well known locally", died of multiple injuries.

Mr Walker is due to appear at Woking Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
