Elderly woman dies after car hits tree in Warlingham

An elderly woman has died after her car left the road and hit a tree in Surrey.

Police said the woman, who was in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Succombs Hill, Warlingham, on Friday afternoon.

In an appeal for witnesses, officers said she was driving a Citroen C3 which crashed shortly before 1330 BST. There were no passengers.

Road closures were in place on Succombs Hill at its junctions with Stuart Road, Westhall Road and Landscape Road.
