Guildford public consultation about town's future

Local people are to be asked for their views on how a Surrey town should be developed over the next 18 years.

A two-week consultation on a new town centre masterplan for Guildford beginning with an exhibition and a presentation gets under way next month.

Ideas to be considered include identifying what improvements are needed to the streets, riverside and other public areas.

Guildford Borough Council leader Tony Rooth encouraged everyone to take part.

"It is important that we all take part, to help make sure we maintain a dynamic and vital economy against the backdrop of our local heritage and the attractive environment.

"We want to hear the views and issues that are important to everyone who uses the town centre and all consultation feedback will help to inform the masterplan," he said.

The consultation period starts with a public event at the council offices on 23 June.
