Whyteleafe driver orders woman into vehicle

A driver stopped his car in the middle of the road in Surrey, blocking other vehicles, and ordered an 18-year-old woman to get in.

Surrey Police said the woman refused to get in the vehicle in Whyteleafe on Thursday and the man became aggressive and verbally abusive.

The man drove off after other motorists sounded their horns because he was blocking Whyteleafe Hill.

Police said the woman was targeted as she walked to the railway station.

Appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at about 14:50 BST, Det Con Anna Blanco said the victim looked younger than 18 and it was possible the man thought she would be intimidated and acquiesce.

Patrols have been stepped up in the area and officers were visiting schools to talk to teachers, she added.

The man was described as black, muscular, bald, with a gold hoop in his left ear, and wearing light-coloured clothing. Police said he spoke with a Jamaican accent and was driving a vehicle similar to a Land Rover.
