Motorcyclist killed in crash named as Carl Van Der Merwe


A motorcyclist who died after crashing with a car in Surrey has been named as 18-year-old Carl Van Der Merwe.

Mr Van Der Merwe, from Pirbright, suffered fatal injuries when his Honda and a VW Sharan collided at Anchor Hill, Knaphill, on Tuesday night.

He was treated at the scene of the crash, outside the Royal Oak pub, but was later pronounced dead. The driver of the car was not injured.

An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned on Friday.
