Stolen display fireworks recovered in Surrey

Stolen exhibition fireworks, which police warned were "extremely dangerous" to anyone untrained in using them, have been recovered in Surrey.

The fireworks were taken from a container at a specialist company in Farnham, between 13 and 14 November.

Surrey Police said the items, which included large fireworks usually fired from a mortar tube, were found in a field in Normandy, Guildford this week.

The force appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Det Con Dan Chant said: "I am now keen to hear from anyone who may have seen any vehicles or individuals acting in a suspicious manner in the vicinity of Cobbetts Close in the last day or two.

"These pyrotechnics are not suitable for use by anyone untrained and posed an extreme risk to anyone who may have handled them incorrectly on finding them.

"Surrey Police needs to discover and bring to justice those who stole these fireworks."

The fireworks were in brown packaging with either MLE Pyrotechnics, Kimbolton Fireworks or Brighton Fireworks on the side.
