A man who stabbed a petrol station customer in the neck in Guildford has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Martin Davison, 35, of West Byfleet, attacked the man at the pay window of the Total petrol station, in Worplesdon Road, on 15 May.

His victim, who was in his 20s, survived the attack.

Davison was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court for causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing an offensive weapon in public.

Det Con Mike Taylor, from Surrey Police, said: "This was an extremely serious assault which could easily have resulted in a loss of life and the sentence metered out to the perpetrator justly reflects this."
