Teenage girl sexually assaulted in Horley street

A 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted as she walked down a street in a Surrey town.

The attack on Smallfield Road, in Horley, happened at 19:15 GMT on Wednesday.

The girl was approached from behind by a tall skinny man who indecently touched her. He did not talk to the girl and she was not hurt in the assault.

Surrey Police said they would be increasing patrols around the area.

Det Con Lewis Flanagan, of Reigate CID, said: "This was a frightening attack on a lone girl and although she was not physically hurt during the ordeal she has been left, understandably, shaken and we need to find the person responsible and bring them to justice.

"Near to where this incident took place is a leisure centre and I would appeal to anyone who was attending the complex around this time to think back and if they have information which may help the investigation to contact us."
