Events lined up to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in Surrey are being posted on a new website set up by the county's Lord Lieutenant.

Local events so far include a carnival in Haslemere, a Guildford cathedral service, the annual Surrey County Show and a royal visit on Epsom Derby day.

The website has been set up by Surrey's Lord Lieutenant Sarah Goad to explain how the lieutenancy works.

She was appointed a DCVO in the New Year Honours List.

Runnymede council chief executive Paul Turrell said: "This new website is a great way for local communities and groups to find out how Surrey's Lord Lieutenant can support and give recognition to them and for them to learn more about the Royal Family and the work carried out by the Lord Lieutenant."

He said the webpage for the county's Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations also had useful information for those planning special events.
