Teenager grabbed in Surrey abduction bid

A teenager escaped from three men after she was forced into a van in a town in Surrey.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the attempted abduction in Horley.

The victim, in her late teens, was walking along Langshott, near the junction with Tanyard Way at 21:30 BST on Wednesday. Two men approached her and forced her into a Ford Transit van.

After five minutes she escaped on the A23 near Salfords Industrial Estate and contacted police.

Det Con Karen Bradley, of Reigate CID, said: "This was obviously a very frightening experience for the victim and we are carrying out a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances and identify those responsible.

"According to the victim's account, there were at least three people involved, one person driving the vehicle and two other men."

Police said the victim was grabbed near the railway track and they are keen to speak to anyone who was on either the 21:00 BST London Victoria to Gatwick train, or the 21:05 BST Gatwick to London Victoria train.

Sgt Simon Ward, from Surrey Police, said neighbourhood teams would be carrying out high visibility patrols.
