Sex abuser Clifford Lown jailed after filming rape
A man who filmed himself raping a woman he had abused when she was a child has been jailed for 20 years.
Clifford Lown, 49, of Epsom, Surrey, was convicted of abusing two children between 1987 and 1997 and a third child in 2010 following an Old Bailey trial.
The court was told he filmed himself raping one of his victims in 2004, when she was an adult, and later handed the video to police as part of his defence.
Judge Charles Wide QC called his actions "utterly distorted".
"It was a symptom of your grotesque misunderstanding and your lack of sympathy that you didn't realise how other people would react to such a video, thinking bizarrely that it might help you," he said.
"That just demonstrates how utterly distorted your thinking is."
'Video of attack'
The court was told Lown abused two girls between 1987 and 1997 and a third child in 2010.
He forced one of his first two victims to have sex with him in 2004 by threatening to have her children taken away by social services.
Jurors were told Lown gave officers a video of the adult attack, as part of his defence, after the victim told police he had sexually abused her as a child.
The jury found him guilty of five counts of indecent assault, three of indecency with a child, four counts of rape, and one of sexual assault of a child.
Judge Wide said they were so many aggravating factors in the case that he had gone above the normal sentencing range of 13 to 19 years.
Lown was also banned from working with children for life and told he would remain on sex offenders register for life.
