Hymn books and other items have been damaged in an arson attack inside a church in Surrey.
Vandals broke into the Church of the Holy Spirit in Burpham in the early hours of Saturday, after smashing a window in the door of the church hall.
The books were placed with a chair, a computer monitor and leaflets and set alight.
Fire crews were alerted by a passer-by at about 00:45 BST, a statement from the church confirmed.
Services at the church in New Inn Lane went ahead as normal on Sunday despite some smoke damage.
The offenders tore down a fire extinguisher and wrote on the floor, and crockery and furniture were also damaged.
Surrey Police is investigating the incident and patrols have been increased in the area.
