A coach carrying about 40 school children has been involved in a road crash in Surrey, police have said.

Surrey Police said officers were called to the scene in Tilford Road, Farnham, at about 15:45 BST.

The single-decker coach was involved in the crash near the Duke of Cambridge pub, said a spokeswoman for the force.

She said two of the children, who were all aged between eight and 11, suffered minor injuries and some were treated for shock.

The two pupils who suffered whiplash injuries were taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, she added.

The driver was not injured but was also treated for shock.

Road closures are expected to remain in place for some time because special recovery vehicles are being brought in, police said.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area.

Anyone who saw the crash, particularly a cyclist who officers believe may have further information, has been asked to contact Surrey Police.
