Olympic torch relay: Appeal for more Surrey volunteers

A council in Surrey has appealed for more volunteers to help when the Olympic Torch Relay and cycling road races pass through.

Mole Valley District Council said it needs more help marshalling events, attending car parks and tidying up.

The council will hold an open evening for anyone interested at Leatherhead Leisure Centre on 30 May.

Strategic director Laura Taylor, said: "The volunteers are vital in ensuring the events run smoothly."

Volunteers are needed for the torch relay on 20 July and cycling road races on 28 and 29 July.
