A man who was attacked in front of his wife and 16-month-old son following a Surrey music festival is no longer in a critical condition in hospital.

Peter Hart, 40, suffered serious head injuries when he was headbutted and punched as he was leaving Guilfest on 13 July in Guildford.

He remains in St George's Hospital, south London, where he remains seriously ill, Surrey Police said.

Two men, aged 36 and 32, were arrested and bailed pending further inquiries.

Officers said their investigation into the assault was still ongoing and they were waiting to speak to Mr Hart.

Witnesses to the incident in King's Road, which happened between 18:30 and 18:45 BST, have been urged to contact police.

Mr Hart was attacked after he gestured to a car to stop to allow his family to reach the other side of the street.

When the car came to a halt a passenger got out and assaulted him.
