Injured foal found dead in field in Farnham

A three-month-old foal has been found dead in a field in Surrey with "extreme and unusual" injuries, police said.

The animal's body was found in a field with its mother and other horses in Waverley Lane, Farnham, near Waverley Abbey House.

Police said it had injuries to its face, neck and chest, but officers were unable to establish how they happened.

The foal, which was white with brown patches, was safe and well 48 hours before being found on Thursday.

"This has been particularly distressing for the owner," said Pc John Hockley.

"I am appealing for anyone who may have information which could help solve the mystery surrounding the unusual demise of this poor foal."
