Task group tackles Surrey road repair delays

A task group has been set up to try to reduce the problems caused by companies digging up Surrey roads.

Poor timing or bad repairs can "cause a nightmare for motorists and cost taxpayers money", according to Surrey County Council.

The authority said the group would look at reducing congestion and improving the quality of work.

John Furey, from Surrey County Council, said it was very "disheartening" to see a newly resurfaced road dug up."

He added: "We want to work more closely with everyone involved to improve the situation."
