Investigation into Sunbury bungalow arson attack

Police are carrying out house-to-house inquiries following an arson attack on a bungalow in Surrey.

Surrey Police said the fire caused damage to the front door and hallway of a property in Batavia Road, Sunbury, on Tuesday evening.

An investigation by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service found that an accelerant had been used to start the blaze.

No-one was in the property at the time. Police have appealed for information.

Det Cons Anne Simpson said: "We will be conducting a number of inquiries in the Batavia Road area over the coming days, including reviewing CCTV opportunities and making house-to-house inquiries, but would urge anyone who may have information about this incident to come forward.

"Thankfully, the property was unoccupied at the time of the offence but this could easily have not been the case."
