Gritters will be out overnight in Surrey after police warned of icy roads.

About 250 flights were cancelled at Heathrow Airport on Sunday and 10% will be cancelled on Monday.

Train services through the county were affected by the snow, with delays experienced through Epsom.

Roads were gritted throughout the weekend while Surrey Police tweeted that snow falling on top of ice had caused some roads to be slippery.

Police said the southbound A3 near the Hindhead Tunnel had seen a number of cars skid on Sunday morning.

The road was partially closed due to an accident.

"Minimal disruption"

Gatwick Airport said it operated with "minimal disruption" though it advised travellers to check their flight status.

South West Trains said there were delays through Epsom on Sunday and Southern Rail said it would be running an amended timetable on Monday.

The Met Office forecast that light snow would continue into Sunday evening.

On Monday it would be cold and mostly cloudy, with some further sleet and snow at times, particularly through the afternoon.
