Stanwell robbery attempt sees woman hit on head

A woman in her 40s was left with head and neck injuries after being attacked by two men who tried to grab her bag.

The woman was hit on the head with an unknown item by the men who approached her in Long Lane in Stanwell, Surrey, at 22:10 BST on Wednesday.

Surrey Police said she managed to get away and call the emergency services and was taken by ambulance to St Peter's Hospital at Chertsey.

She was treated for minor injuries. Police are appealing for witnesses.

"This was a very upsetting and frightening experience for the woman involved," said Det Con Claire Langdon.

"We are trying to build up detailed suspect descriptions and a picture of the men's movements prior to and after this offence."

One of the men, who was white and in his 30s, is described as slim with spots or scars around his mouth and stubble.

He was wearing a dark hooded top with a light one underneath and dark jogging bottoms with blue jeans underneath.
