Bar manager beaten with pool cue at clubhouse in Surrey

A bar manager was knocked unconscious with a pool cue during a robbery at a football clubhouse in Surrey.

The attack on the bar manager took place on Saturday at 00:35 BST when he was closing up with a female club member at Merstham Football Club.

Two masked men forced open the doors, and attacked the pair, leaving the man with a suspected broken eye socket and the woman with minor injuries.

The suspects escaped with several hundred pounds and bottles of alcohol.

'Terrifying experience'

Both were described as being in their late teens or early 20s, medium build, wearing dark clothing, including hooded tops with the hoods pulled up.

Their faces were covered with plastic masks.

Following the robbery they are thought to have escaped down an alleyway towards Albury Road.

Det Con Ian Cherrington, from Surrey Police, said: "This must have been a terrifying experience for the two victims, who were simply trying to do their jobs and close up at the end of the night.

"The area the men ran through after the incident was busy that night so I am hopeful that passing pedestrians or motorists may remember seeing these men."
