Surrey Police quiz five people over Guildford stab murder

A fifth person has been arrested over the murder of a man who died after an altercation in Surrey.

The victim, 24, died from stab wounds in hospital after an incident involving people in a Vauxhall Corsa car and a van in Guildford on Monday afternoon.

A 28-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of assisting an offender. A woman, 36, and a 24-year-old man are also being questioned.

A 24-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman have been released on bail.

The man who died has not yet been named.

A post-mortem examination found the cause of death to be a single stab wound to the chest.

Police were called to the Royal Surrey County Hospital following reports that a man from the local area had been admitted with stab injuries at about 15:35 GMT, following an altercation in Aldershot Road.

Parts of Guildford were cordoned off as police carried out searches near the scene.

BBC reporter Adrian Harms said there was a "considerable police presence" in Deerbarn Road.

Anyone who saw what happened in Aldershot Road from 15:00 GMT onwards is urged to contact the force.

Three of the people questioned were arrested in the local area shortly after the attack, and one was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday in London.

The fifth suspect was arrested on Tuesday afternoon.
