Six injured in Chertsey as tree falls on to cars

Six people were injured when a large tree fell on to passing vehicles.

It came down in Guildford Road, in Chertsey, just before midday, injuring four people travelling in a Mini Cooper convertible and two in a Mercedes.

Three people were taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting, south London, for specialist care. Another was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

Surrey Police said Guildford Road would remain closed to traffic while tree surgeons worked to remove the tree.
