Two men arrested after bike boy robbed in Hove

Two men were arrested and seven bikes and a number of mobile phones recovered after an 11-year-old boy was robbed while riding his bike in West Sussex.

The boy was riding a BMX along the A293 Hangleton Link in Hove on Thursday at about 2100 BST when two men jumped on him, made threats and took the bike.

Police were called and searched the area and found the BMX. Two men aged 38 were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

The other bikes, phones and a handbag were also discovered by police.

'Reunite with owners'

All the property is thought to have been stolen.

"Police were able to recover the bike which had been taken in the robbery, together with a large quantity of other items," said a police spokesman.

"Enquiries are continuing to establish who these belong to and we hope to be able to reunite as much of the property as we can with its owners."

The 11-year-old boy was said to be uninjured but shaken by the incident.

The two men, of no fixed address, are currently in police custody.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or who witnessed what happened to come forward.
