Landlord injured by robbers during raid on Sussex pub

A pub landlord and his wife were tied up by four masked men who stole cash and jewellery in East Sussex.

The intruders broke into the White Hart pub at The Green, Catsfield, near Battle, shortly after 0330 BST on Monday.

Sussex Police said the landlord was injured during the robbery and had to be treated at the scene by paramedics.

Detectives have urged anyone with information about the raid to contact officers.

Ch Insp Heather Keating said: "This is a serious crime which is unusual for Rother. It is an isolated incident and not believed to be linked to any similar crimes in Sussex.

"My Neighbourhood Policing Team will be patrolling the area to provide visibility and reassurance and I urge you to stop and talk to them if you have any information that can help us catch those responsible."
