The mother of a two-year-old girl killed in a car crash in East Sussex will not face charges over her death.

Eloise Mann was in a Fiat Doblo, which was in collision with a van on the A27 at Polegate on 22 February.

Ann Mann, 58, of St Leonards, was arrested on 2 March on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The Crown Prosecution Service has concluded it would not be in the public interest to take further action.

Mrs Mann and her son Finlay - Eloise's twin brother - suffered minor injuries in the crash near the Pevensey bypass.

Help police

After the accident, Mrs Mann spoke of her "miracle" at becoming pregnant with the twins "against all the odds".

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "A 58-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of committing driving offences following a road traffic collision in Polegate will not be prosecuted.

"The woman attended the police station for interview to help police with their investigation following the crash.

"The CPS reviewed the evidence and concluded there would be no further action as it was not in the public interest."
