Plans for £5m library unveiled in Seaford

Plans to build a £5m library and day care centre in Seaford have been unveiled by East Sussex County Council.

Council leaders said the new library at Warwick House would replace the existing building in Sutton Park Road, which was built in the 1940s.

The day care centre for people with dementia will replace the existing services provided at Homefield Place.

It will also house nine supported flats for people with learning disabilities to be run by a housing association.

Councillor Bob Tidy, the lead member for community services, said: "We've only put forward schemes that we believe our residents want and need and this library and day services development at Seaford is one of those schemes."

If planning permission is granted, the new library could open in 2012.
