Road crash victim from Bexhill named by Sussex Police

A 40-year-old pedestrian from Bexhill who was killed when he was struck by a car has been named by police.

Mark Penfold, of High Street, suffered fatal injuries in the accident on the westbound De la Warr Road at 2330 BST on Saturday.

The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa saloon has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The 23-year-old from St Leonards has been bailed until 12 November pending further inquiries.

Three passengers in the car, an 18-year-old man and two women, both aged 18, were treated at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings for minor injuries.
