Four arrested after police raids in Worthing

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of money laundering, benefit fraud and drugs offences in Sussex.

Two women, aged 21 and 41, and a man, 45, all from Worthing, were arrested after police raided homes in Anslems Road, Pavilion Road and St Elmo Road.

The police raids were the culmination of a joint investigation with the Department for Work and Pensions and Worthing Borough Council.

A third woman, aged 23, was also charged with theft.

After the raids, police community support officers were in the area to answer residents' questions.

Det Sgt Mark Williams said: "We don't want to cause any distress or alarm by police activity, and understandably those living in the area may have wondered what was happening.

"We wanted to ensure that there were officers available to speak to them, to explain what was happening and why."
