A 26-year-old has admitted attacking a man who died after suffering serious head injuries outside a nightclub in Sussex.

Ricky Brown, 25, was assaulted near the Ocean Rooms club in Brighton just before 0600 GMT on New Year's Day. He died in hospital on 5 January.

Chancey Cummings pleaded guilty to manslaughter and grievous bodily harm at Lewes Crown Court.

Cummings, of no fixed abode, will be sentenced on 11 October.

Mr Brown was treated at the Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre in Haywards Heath after he was attacked by Cummings near the Ocean Rooms in Morley Street on New Year's Day.

The club had its licence revoked at the start of February after Brighton and Hove City Council declared a "lack of confidence" in the way it was managed.
