Girl, 10, grabbed by passenger in car in East Sussex

A 10-year-old girl was grabbed by a man in a car as she cycled in East Sussex.

Sussex Police said the man, a passenger in the vehicle, wound down the window and took hold of the youngster's wrist telling her to get in the car.

The girl, from Herstmonceux, who was cycling on Windmill Hill managed to pull away from the man and ride home.

Sussex Police said the youngster was left very shaken and have appealed for information about the incident which happened at about 1840 BST on Saturday.

Girl 'very upset'

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "We don't know what the man's intentions were, but we are taking his actions seriously and are doing all we can to trace him and the driver.

"If they thought they were joking around, they've left a young girl very upset and I urge them to come forward so that they can explain their actions."

The car was described as being blue, dirty and scratched, with black seats, a roof rack, and the letter S or number 5 on the registration.
