Appeal over armed robbery at Hove post office

An armed man has raided a post office in Hove, prompting a police appeal for information.

Sussex Police said the man entered the outlet in Melville Road, Hove, at 1010 BST with what appeared to be a handgun.

He threatened a member of staff and took money from the till before heading off in the direction of Julian Road.

A police spokesman said two members of staff and one customer were in the post office at the time of the raid but were uninjured.

Det Insp Lee Horner said it had been a "frightening ordeal".

The suspect was light-skinned and in his 30s, wearing a black Parka-style jacket and a woollen hat.
