A murder inquiry has been launched by police investigating the death of a man at a farm in East Sussex.

The man, who is believed to be Julian Gardner, 53, lived in a house at Bush Barn Farm, off the A21 north of Robertsbridge, police said.

Officers were alerted at 0810 BST by an ambulance crew following an emergency call from a colleague of the man.

Det Ch Insp Adam Hibbert said the circumstances of his death were still being investigated.

"The farm is extensive and methodical forensic examination will take some time. We are in the very early stages of this investigation," he said.

"The victim was found by a colleague. I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area overnight or knows anything that could be useful to get in touch."

Police said Mr Gardner ran an agricultural and car repair business at the farm.
