Lewes couple stabbed on doorstep 'recovering well'

A married couple in their 70s who were stabbed on their doorstep are said to be recovering well.

The couple were stabbed "a number of times" after they answered the door to a woman in Hawkenbury Way on Monday.

Police said the man, who suffered a broken ankle, had returned home and the woman, who had stab wounds, was expected to leave hospital soon.

A 59-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and is being questioned in custody in Eastbourne.

Detectives said the motive for the attack was unclear and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
