Man, 26, is robbed at knifepoint near Crawley pub

A man had his wallet taken in what police said was a "desperate" robbery at knifepoint near a West Sussex pub.

Sussex Police said the thief put a knife to the victim's throat during the incident near the Snooty Fox Pub, Crawley, at about 2300 GMT on Tuesday.

Officers said the 26-year-old was left "extremely distressed" but unhurt by the unprovoked attack.

The suspect was described as white, in his mid-20s, about 5ft 10in tall, of medium build and with a dark moustache.

He was wearing a black hooded jacket and light-coloured jeans.

Det Con Nikki Thiim said: "This was a desperate and unprovoked attack on an innocent man making his way home after a night out.

"The victim is extremely distressed and I would urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious prior to the robbery or saw someone matching the description of the offender in the area around that time to please contact the police."
