West Sussex lorry crash victim identified

An elderly man who died when the car he was driving was in collision with a lorry in West Sussex has been named by police.

Lloyd Russell, 79, was killed in the crash on the A281 in Rudgwick shortly after 1200 GMT on Monday.

Sussex Police said Mr Russell's 75-year-old female passenger remained in hospital with serious injuries.

A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been bailed until 29 January pending further enquiries.

Police said they were keen to speak to two off-duty nurses who gave medical assistance at the scene.
