An elderly motorist has died after a crash between two cars in West Sussex.

The accident involved two Ford Fiestas travelling in opposite directions on the C44 Pagham Road, in Lagness, between Chichester and Bognor.

The 70-year-old man, from Bognor, was driving one of the cars just before 2300 GMT on Thursday.

The driver of the other Fiesta, a 25-year old man from Fishbourne, and his two passengers, aged 22 and 26, suffered minor injuries.

Police said a taxi driven by a 28-year old Chichester man, which had been behind the car in which the man died, was slightly damaged in the collision, but the driver and his four passengers were unhurt.
