Man charged with trying to murder terminally ill father

A 48-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of his terminally ill father.

Joseph Peachy, of Badlesmere Road, Eastbourne, is alleged to have tried to suffocate his father, Albert Peachy, whilst visiting him at Eastbourne District General Hospital on Monday.

He is also charged with assaulting two police officers and a hospital staff member and a public order offence.

He was remanded in custody to Lewes Crown Court by Eastbourne magistrates.

A date for his next court appearance is yet to be fixed.
