A woman has been sexually assaulted while walking home in Brighton.

The 20-year-old victim was grabbed across the chest from behind in Leopold Road at about 2310 BST on Wednesday.

Sussex Police said she managed to kick the attacker in the shin and run to a friend's house nearby.

The woman had walked from the Hobgoblin pub, along Cheapside, into Trafalgar Street and past the railway station before being attacked in Leopold Road. Police are studying CCTV footage.

Officers have been conducting house-to-house inquiries, and said it was possible she had been followed.
