Man charged over Chichester police custody suite crash

A man has been charged after a car was driven into a West Sussex police custody suite, causing major damage.

A Nissan Micra was driven into the main entrance of the building in Chichester at least twice on Tuesday at 1440 BST, according to Sussex Police.

Firefighters had to check the safety of the structure and stop a leak from the car following the incident.

A 38-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving, drink-driving, and driving while disqualified.

The man, who is of no fixed address, is also accused of making off without payment and driving without insurance.

He is due to appear at Chichester Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
