Sussex Police arrest two over Wadhurst fuel theft

About 2,000 litres of heating oil, thought to have been stolen from a property in Sussex, has been recovered by police.

Sussex Police were called to a house in Wadhurst early on Tuesday following a report that burglars were trying to steal fuel.

Officers later arrested two men, aged 18 and 22, and also found a van containing a large quantity of fuel.

Sgt Natalie Daly said it was a "significant recovery of oil".

She said: "Heating oil and fuel thefts are a real problem for the rural community and something that we are working to reduce."
