East Sussex care home sites up for sale

Five new sites for care home developments have been put up for sale in East Sussex.

It is part of the East Sussex County Council's Age Well development project and covers sites in Ringmer, Uckfield, St Leonards, Hastings and Westfield.

All five sites will be sold on long leaseholds which will include specific clauses to ensure that the land is used only for care home development.

The council will get priority access to an agreed number of bedrooms.

Ringmer, Uckfield and St Leonards are former council-run care homes while Hastings is an empty site and Westfield is a former private sector care home.

Keith Hinkley, director of adult social care on the council, said: "This is good news for East Sussex as we will be able to work in partnership with the independent sector to ensure quality adult social care is available in the county for the foreseeable future."
