Sussex Police officers injured during Brighton arrest

Two Sussex Police officers had to be taken to hospital after being attacked by a man they were trying to arrest.

They had been attending a report of indecent exposure at a restaurant on Brighton's seafront on Monday evening when the suspect became violent.

Sussex Police said the man attacked the two female officers as they tried to arrest him at Alfresco in Kings Road Arches shortly after 1830 BST.

Members of the public helped to restrain the man, a spokesman said.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure and assaulting/obstructing a police officer and remains in custody.

Both officers were treated for minor injuries at Royal Sussex County Hospital and discharged.
