Fishersgate hit-and-run driver sought by police

The driver of a white Ford Escort van that was involved in a hit-and-run is being sought by police.

The van ran over a man who was pushing an empty wheelchair across a road in Fishergate, West Sussex on Thursday at about 13:00 GMT.

The 47-year-old victim, who suffered serious leg injuries, has recalled details of the van, saying it had a grey primer right hand rear door.

The number plate was also on the top right of the rear of the vehicle.

The collision happened at the junction of Gordon Road and Laylands Road.

The van, which had been travelling south on Laylands Road, turned east onto Gordon Road.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information about the vehicle being sought is asked to contact police.
