A man accused of attempted murder after a 33-year-old man was seriously injured in The Causeway, in Brighton, last year has been convicted of a lesser charge.

Patrick Lyons, 55, of Down Terrace, Brighton, was found guilty at Lewes Crown Court of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Along with Louise Lyons, 29, of Carden Avenue, he was also convicted of wounding with intent.

Both are due to be sentenced at the same court on Tuesday.

A third defendant, Katie Lyons, 26, of Firle Road, also in Brighton, was cleared of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The charges related to an incident in The Causeway on 16 July 2011, when a man was attacked before he was hit by a car.
