A27 crashes cause rush-hour delays near Brighton

Motorists faced rush-hour delays on a busy Brighton road after accidents involving three cars and a lorry.

The lorry ran into the central reservation on the A27 after colliding with an MG sports car, shedding part of its load across both carriageways.

Some of the debris struck a car on the opposite carriageway, between Falmer and Hollingbury, and then another car collided with the central reservation.

Both outer lanes were closed while road repairs were carried out.

Police said the lorry driver, the woman driving the MG and her passenger were taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with back and wrist injuries, which were not considered serious.

They are keen to hear from witnesses to the collisions, which happened around 12:35 GMT.
