Rusper barn fire cause investigated

A barn was destroyed by a fire which was tackled by nearly 40 firefighters from across West Sussex and Surrey.

Fire crews were called to the blaze on farmland off Capel Road, Rusper, at about 19:30 BST on Tuesday and brought it under control by about midnight.

They stayed at the scene until about 06:30 to damp down.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was "highly visible" in the area. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

It is thought the cause was accidental, but the incident remains under investigation, a fire service spokeswoman added.

Pumps from Horsham, Dorking, Crawley, Burgess Hill, Horley, Reigate and Godstone attended the blaze.
