A 40-year-old man who died from stab wounds at a flat in Brighton has been named by police.

Jeffrey Burrows was found by emergency services in Norfolk Square at 19:40 BST on Sunday, following reports that a man who lived alone had been stabbed.

He received treatment from paramedics at the scene but was pronounced dead shortly after 21:00 BST.

Sussex Police said a post-mortem examination carried out on Monday revealed that he died of stab wounds.

The force said a 21-year-old local man, who was arrested at a Brighton address on Monday morning, was still being held in custody.

A knife recovered in the flat is being examined to see if it is connected to the incident.

Det Ch Insp Nick Sloan, of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime team, said he did not believe it was a random attack and has appealed for witnesses.
